Never Too Late

I really had a depressing day today.
I was mentally blocked while taking my major exam this afternoon. Even the simplest formula was lost in my mind. I rushed to leave school because I really didn’t want to hear my classmates discuss the answers about the exam.

The sun had already set and my dad was texting me to come home but I went to the grocery first to buy a kilo of choco powdered drink and a loaf of bread. When I got home, I forgot that I actually had a package from Naga.

What a way to compensate a most probably failed exam, a Starbucks 2012 planner. I got it from a giveaway courtesy of Nick of nickastig.me (you should follow him).

I’ve always wanted a planner of my own but I didn’t imagine how costly it could be and the fact that there’s not even a branch of the bookstores that sell planners here in my city. The nearest one is 88 kms. away!

I did not expect this planner to be so.. beautiful. The cover is actually made of wood?! (This one’s Cherry) And I really love the bag that came with it (plus the coupons and bookmark).

I’m expecting that by the end of 2012, this will be full of ink (and creativity, I wish) with memories and titles of songs and important reminders for school. Thank you Nick (if you’re reading this) for the planner. You cured a part of my depression.

Food + Kids

When my family and I go to weddings, my dad usually lets me hold the camera and make me get some practice for taking shots, mostly in the art of spontaneity. I’m not really fond of taking those choreographed shots like the family of the groom, of the bride, relatives, blah, blah, blah. My eyes just get glued on other stuff.

So, I arrived from a cousin’s wedding two hours ago. I was really disappointed how things turned out. I always make it a point to get the best angle during weddings and I happened to be near the altar. Then, the videographer just tells me to step down because that area was off limits. So, I did follow him and it got me wondering, “I was in the same spot taking pictures during the bride’s sister’s wedding last year. I don’t remember this being off limits. Even the official photographer was also in this spot.” I was always carfeful not to intervene in their shots with all the equipment they’ve set up. Being the official crew to document the event, I had no choice. I lost my drive to shoot, got upset and decided to focus on the kids instead.

This angel just gave me happy vibes from all the disappointment earlier. She’s the most adorable kid I’ve seen in the church. I really love her black curls and how the lei of flowers in her head suited her. She reminded me of a cherubim.

After church, we went to a beach resort for the reception. The place was really nice and there were a lot of people. Yet, the cake really caught my attention.

A hard hat made out of fondant! Can you guess the occupation of the couple?

There were also cupcakes and little cakes as presents for the principal sponsors.

The videographer was near to the table where the cakes where placed. I thought he’d tell me to shove off but good thing, he didn’t. The very presence of him was just getting on my nerves.

Thankfully, my family decided that we all get a dose of caffeine because we had to make a two-hour ride back to Iligan. Java Chip Frappe on Venti cup = WIN. Happy vibes are back!
