AVANZA: Testimonial Program
Batch 2011 of BSA students (collectively called as AVANZA) made history when they achieved a 100% passing rate in the October 2011 CPA Board Exams! Yesterday, they were at school to have their testimonial program and share their experiences about their preparation for the said exam.

Every AVANZA student was assigned a topic to discuss. Most of them took their review at CPAR, some at PRTC-CDO, and another at PRTC-Cebu.

I had fun listening to Ate Faith, Kuya Jesther, and Kuya Gian. Ate Faith talked about resources - which books were best for review and subjects that she thought were difficult. Kuya Jesther talked about time management. Being the valedictorian, I was surprised to find out how lazy he was after sharing his methods. Haha! Kuya Gian talked about life in Manila and how temptations can be such a distraction in your review.
But hey, over and over again, they emphasized that it’s not about the quantity of the review materials you’ve read but the quality of your study habits that mostly appeals to you. Be strong and fight homesickness and enjoy the company of friends. Value your health. Always keep in mind the 3Ps (as shared by the late Prof. Albao) - Prayer, Positive Thinking, and Preparation.
I believe AVANZA’s secret is their unity. They never missed a mass at UST. They share handouts and encourage one another to do their best. They even celebrate their birthdays together! If one wants to be a CPA, then one should focus starting at the first year of college.

Everyone listened intently. There’s a lot of pressure for the future batches because the faculty is expecting that the 100% passing rate will be maintained. Our dean said, “If you want to surpass AVANZA, then you better get 100% PLUS a topnotcher.” Now, that’s a challenge!

The AVANZA also gave roses to the teachers to show their sincerest gratitude. They gave short messages to each teacher and handed the rose over to them.

Batch AVANZA with the teachers.
Kudos AVANZA!
